Radio Broadcasting 1-2 introduces students to career fields in the radio broadcast industry. Students learn digital and audio editing with the most current technology used in professional industry settings; proficient use of studio recording equipment; and effective on-air writing and delivery methods. Using these skills, students produce their own radio segments. Students obtain on-air experience on KIOS 91.5 FM radio, Omaha's National Public Radio station.

Duration: Full year (2 semesters)

Radio Broadcasting 3-4 students refine and expand skills learned in Radio Broadcasting 1-2. Students create and produce programs for broadcasts on KIOS 91.5 radio, Omaha's National Public Radio station. Students are given the opportunity to enter their class assignments in local and national level recording competitions. Examples of career opportunities include: broadcast journalist, engineer/technician, music director, on-air personality, promotions director, news director, and program director.

Radio Broadcasting 5-6

Radio Broadcasting 5-6 students refine and expand skills learned in Radio Broadcasting 3-4 with an in-depth focus into the content area of broadcasting careers and leadership skills in the field. Students independently create and produce programs for broadcasts in KIOS 91.5 FM radio, Omaha's National Public Radio station, as well as for podcasts on KIOS.org. Students are given the opportunity to enter their class assignments in local and national level recording competitions. Examples of career opportunities include: broadcast journalist, engineer/technician, music director, on-air personality, promotions director, news director, and program director.
