Summer Internship


Career Center Summer Internships


The Career Center offers (paid) summer employment for students in selected Career Center programs. An important part of a high school student's educational experience is the chance for practical application of what has been taught in a class. To be eligible, students must complete  the first year of a Career Center program and be enrolled in the second year of the same Career Center program. Internships offer great opportunities for students to develop and refine skills. Regular employer evaluations let students know how they are doing and how they can improve. Supervised work experience looks great on a resume and often helps students acquire better jobs in the future. Placement in an internship position is dependent upon a successful job interview. The Career Center cannot guarantee that every interested will receive a job. The final employment decision rest with the employer. 

Prerequisites: Successful interview with prospective employer
Duration: Summer following junior year

Career Center Summer Externships 

The Career Center offers volunteer (non-paid) summer positions for students in selected Career Center programs. These externships offer great opportunities for students to apply what they have learned and to help others. To be eligible, students must complete the first year of a Career Center program and be enrolled in the second year of the same Career Center program. Regular externship evaluations let students know how they are doing and how they can improve. Volunteering looks great on a resume and often helps students get better jobs in the future. Placement in an externship position is dependent upon a successful interview. The Career Center cannot guarantee that every interested student will receive an externship position. The final placement decision rests with the business or institution offering the externship opportunity.
